Okay, for those of you guys out there who are :Scratch-Chin:and wondering what looks different around the forum tonight -- we've just invested in some heavy-duty solid-gold buttons for our forum, since they've been getting so much use lately! (Just an FYI, the only investment was some of my time -- other than that, it didn't cost a dime. No server donations were used, and no animals were harmed, in the production of these buttons.)Here's the 4-1-1 on what happened. Since the upgrade to ProBoards Version 4, you may have noticed (as did I) that they added a few buttons, primarily in the PM area. Since we didn't have custom buttons for those, the stock buttons were used, and it looked kinda cheesy to have those next to our custom ones. I had a bit of spare time after dinner tonight, so I figured I'd go back to Button Generator and crank out a few quick replacement buttons in the same style as what we had. However, the button template that I used before was currently unavailable to the cheapskates like me who just post a link to their site (check the bottom of every page here in the forum ) as an acceptable alternative to paying for their wonderful service (those who pay get 24/7 access to all of their button and menu styles). So, instead of just making a few buttons in that style to replace the new V4 stock buttons, we went with another style (which the Princess helped me pick out from the available button styles). Then, as I was starting to make the buttons, I found that they had added a feature where you can insert little icons into the buttons also -- so I went a little icon-crazy  ;D! All in all, though, between creating the buttons on that site, then editing them (in MS Paint, no less!) for uniformity of icon and text spacing, then uploading all 41 of the custom buttons to PhotoBucket, and changing the links for the buttons in the Admin section here -- it actually only took me about 2½ hours this evening for the whole process (not bad for a total graphics noob!). Personally, I love the new look that it gives to the forum, and I hope that it enriches your forum browsing experience as well.

Hmmm, just think . . . if I had gone with the iron-colored ones that I originally saw, Dave might have ended up on the AWOL list because he'd never stop playing with the forum buttons long enough to get his hour of AA in for the month. :haha:

I'm tempted to pry them out and melt them down to make some jewelery. :construction:

Actually, I haven't been to BG since the new gold buttons came out . The props on the new "new posts" button ( ) and the smileys :armyguy: and go to OnePatriot :first:. He produced the "new posts" button based on the "no new posts" button that we have and my pathetic description of what I thought would look cool -- using an ancient soldier to show "no new posts" in a board, and a modern soldier to show "new posts" in a board. :armyguy: came out of that button to help us out in the posts -- and was just thrown in for fun -- I don't know if Dan thought I'd actually use it or not, but I love it -- it'll come in handy! ;D

The Logout and Calender buttons used to not load for me, but they do now. There was a link in place that said [logout] and something else, is that what it is like for you?
