PunkSpy 1.2.1 supports more browsers (including Safari). So if previous versions did not work properly for your browser, try 1.2.1.
BTW, anyone tried the player search?

Uh, I tried the player search. I entered the IP, saved the pbsvss.htm file and then saved the PunkSpyFile.htm to the same dir. Opened PunkSpyFile.htm locally and did a player search - "No results found." So I opened the local pbsvss.htm file and manually searched for that player, found him, and shift-clicked on the picture link. The picture(s) which was shown was from a different player though. I dont mind just opening the pbsvss.htm and searching using ctrl+f, but why did it show the pic of a different player? Did I do something wrong? Anyway, I really like the idea of being able to find the player screenshots through a search. When trying to check weather someone is cheating while actually just waiting for the next round to start leaves not much time ;D I really do appreciate the work you put into this project. Im using PunkSpy all the time. edit: about the file-reading stuff: with php you can read files and it is really easy to learn (easier than java.script IMHO). The only problem is that your provider must offer php on their server, there are a few ones though which provide it for free (only know german ones myself tho )

If a player has a screenshot request sent, but it doesn't come back, the old screenshot is not replaced, that's probably your problem (EDIT: The pbsvss.htm can get messed up apart from that; I don't know why, but Jeff might could tell you ). I am planning to learn PHP next year; and you're right, I could probably make a better player search with it than I can with JavaScript.

I had a look at the code of your older version to see what I have been doing wrong. Even though your code is nice and clean I couldnt figure it out, my JavaScript skills just arent what they used to be ;D Your PlayerSearch 0.5 works like a charm though. Really nice work There are still issues with " Screenshot transfer was corrupted." and " Screenshot transfer was incomplete." sometimes, but as I understand it you just havent implemented code for broken image skipping yet (it works fine with punkspy). Awesome work Dave, keep it up edit: it works with Firefox, doesnt seem to work with IE much Doesnt matter to me though, I just use Firefox then ;D

I could make a version that skips; but it would require somewhat different code than PunkSpy uses because I would be dealing with frames instead of images.

Yes, I actually thought about that point while having a look at some players where this "broken image" problem appeared to happen a lot. Also I know that there is at least one hack which does prevent sending pics. I have to get more into the whole PB stuff though before I understand who might in fact use such a hack (i.e. I found broken pics searching for people I am sure dont hack).
I still have the issue that some of the pics returned do not match the player name I was looking for, but thats a pbsvss.htm issue. I will have a look into that matter.
edit (update): that happens when PB overwrites the screenshots while you are actually browsing through the list - logically ô.ô So basically one is using an outdated (by a few minutes) htm file but as the loading of the pics takes longer some might be newer than the htm file.

I realized that enabling image skipping will be impossible to do properly for the same reason that you have to download the pbsvss.htm file; JavaScript is not allowed to read documents on another server. I may do a nicer player search with PHP sometime.

I made a player search with PHP, I haven't found any good hosting for it yet so I'm temporarily hosting it on my computer here it is: 67.164.135.43/search.php

Well, I'm hoping to get my SourceForge hosting to work (I may have to modify my file access method). Anyway I'll need a PHP server...

Yeah, that might work; it has PHP 4.3.7. But I might run into the same problems on that server as I have on SourceForge...
