Thread re-opened! I don't think that Bud will mind me sharing some of the content of his PM, since that was the whole point of it -- to get the word out to our members about a new AA community-involvement project. Here is the relevant part of that message: After reviewing what it is that they're trying to do, I agree that this is a great idea, and so I'm posting a note about it here to make sure that you all are aware of it. I personally can't get involved at this point (due to my connection issues : , but I know that a lot of you have plenty of free time on your hands (at least judging by how much time you rack up in our server on any given day ), and I'm sure that some of you would be thrilled to be involved in such a project. If you have some free time and want to get involved in teaching new AA players the basics of the game (and perhaps include a healthy dose of "our brand" of AA playing as well , but in a positive and non-offensive way, of course ), then I would encourage you to follow this information in order to let Bud and the other AACM's know of your interest in participating: Also, if you decide to let the AACM's know of your willingness to participate if the project does get off the ground, please be sure to post here to tell us that you've done that, so that I'm aware of those helping out in this area . Thank you! ~ Jeff

Hmm ,Its' a good idea, but can someone tell me how many NEW players come to this game ?. Competition from other games is hard . And i have to say ,if you wanna learn a game ,you just have to JOIN a clan . Or find someone thats better and try to follow him in the game and try to shoot him wen you're in the other team . Like i did ,a few years ago (some of you remember Patience-=Of-God=-) that was a tough guy to get ,also follow Mick (Forgiven or Marson) and many others of this clan ,you will learn routes ,and tricks ,well in Mout ;D. Now is the time ,try it all this game is going to STOP ------ and a new version will be there ---- you begin all as newbies ;D.

Staff, Members, and Guests, August 5, 2008 will mark a historical step in America's Army, where many came together to help one player at a time. Our America's Army Community Manager has posted the following message in New Players forum, signaling the start of a journey that all of us thought may never come, and here it is! Below is his post. Below is an outline of how we can embrace this and help kick it off by getting the word out through word of mouth, posting, and sharing this address (below) with online players having difficulties. With as many of us that can help, these few first days may prove to be our biggest challenge, getting new players to get involved. Our best effort should be to encourage and dispell any fears these new players may have that this is anything less than genuine and authentic, and by far the best source of information, tips, and help that is available anywhere online. forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?p=2706008#2706008Wishing all of success, Richard "[VET]Bud" Beers America's Army Forum Member since 2005 May God be with you.

Considering a lot of new players come to our server because you only need to have basic training completed to play on it. EDIT: Spelling

Staff, In an effort to bolster this project, the AACM is seeking player input, specifically how new players feel about being mentored. forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?p=2706008#2706008While this effort is geared towards new players, at this time, I have taken a position to sign up to receive training, to experience the process and better understand what the AACM has in mind. Certainly, I'm not asking veteran players to do the same. However, if there are recruits within your ranks, that would be willing to, it being a once in a lifetime opportunity, experience this grassroots project first hand, that would help this process move forward. By volunteering to be a player being trained, would better equip Mentors, and help identify issues in the program. Do you think this is a plausible suggestion, and if so, do you think one or more of your newer personnel would be willing to participate in this capacity? I am new to this and a bit lost and would appreciate some mentoring. I am especially interested in playing as a team rather than just running around. I’d be interested in seeing how squad tactics are done and so on. In the few games I played I got shot a lot.
They never let me have a weapon when I was in the Army so I guess I’ll get one here. Is there an armory or some system where weapons are assigned?
Where do I met a mentor? Is there a nub room?
