I have a little suggestion... ;o).... I am a frequent almost daily visitor to your forums.. i read more then i post i have to admit. most of the time i read the forums by looking at the 50 most recent post... this has now been changed to "View the 1 most recent post of this forum." guess it was a mistake... or maybe not.... lol.... but i wouldn't mind if you upped the number again...lol take care all.... keep up the good work. Mark

Yup, not very practical if you ask me ... it's the best feature on our forum, takes me too long to browse the forum manually.

Due to a bug in ProBoards (which has been reported but not addressed yet), we had to reduce the number of recent posts as matter of forum security. Please don't ask why, as the security flaw still exists, and I don't want to spread it around as to what it is, since that could only make it more vulnerable to being exploited. Once the situation has been corrected by ProBoards, we will return the number of recent posts to 50. Until that happens, it may help you to follow the soldiers in the left-hand column of the main board as a guide (as I do when I'm reading through the forum -- I've never used the "recent posts" link, except in testing): The "ancient Roman soldier dude" icon (think "old") means that you've already read all of the posts in that board -- just skip over his boards when skimming the forum. The "modern army soldier dude" icon (think "new") means that there are posts that you haven't read yet in that board -- go into his boards to find the threads with new posts (indicated by the smaller "modern army soldier dude" icon -- ). It also helps to use the "collapsible headers" on the main page ... if you see that a whole category has only the ancient soldiers, click on the category name (like "Visitors' Lounge") in the header bar to "collapse" that section and bring the lower categories up higher ... makes for faster browsing that way. Sorry for the inconvenience ... but this really is the only way to keep certain confidential information secure, at this point. ~ Jeff

Proboards still have that problem going on? It's been quite a while now...

It does. I saw the same issue today when a post that was for a private messageboard posted publically.

Check my post above ... it's easy to tell if there are any new posts in a board -- just follow the green soldiers!
And no, there's no update on it yet, although there is a test that I need to run when I get a few minutes -- that may help clear up the problem.

In spite of how easy it sounds to check the soldiers to determine new posts, I desperately need the last 50 post thing turned back on. Who knows, my mom may be trying to get in touch with me but I've missed her posts!

For what it's worth, I've always used the soldier icons to determine new posts. So, even when it gets changed I likely won't notice.

I have also recently discovered that the little green soldier dude also links to the last post you've read in that particular thread. So you can click on him in the thread space and he will take you to it. That may help with the posting.

You spelled my name right. Thank you. Most people spell it wrong no matter whether they just looked it up or not. I'm glad it helped

Someone else spells their name like mine.
Wow that has never been told to me.
And mom and dad thought it was unique.
How they got my name out of KI Sawyer AFB I will never understand.

The problem is now resolved ... as it turns out, the problem was related to forum staff positions being able to see the hidden information (regular forum members could not, however), rather than a glitch in ProBoards itself. The "50 recent posts" feature is now back -- enjoy!

Amazing, I'm offered an alternate working solution to the problem THIS MORNING (by using firefox instead of IE) and TWO HOURS LATER the original problem is fixed!
