Well I come from a family that was Catholic although my dad never took me to church becuase he did not want my religion to "be chosen" for me. I took care of my dad from the time I was five untill I left the house because of his diabetes. I acted out alot as a child since it was just my dad and got involved with drugs at a very young age.
I went to spend the summer with an aunt of mine and she took me to church and I gave my life to Christ at that time. When I returned home I managed to stay focused on that for a short time but without the positive influnces I turned to my old ways and continued on that path for about 13 years.
I was homeless and using drugs intravenously for a long long time. I found solace at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Tucson where I went through their program. I then became the Resident Manager there, and continued working in the field of substance abuse/mental health since I left their employment. I have been clean and sober to this day and still attend the Salvation Army Amphi Corps. I have just started playing the violin in the Praise Team there.
My life is far from easy and it can be a downright struggle sometimes but, with God all things are possible. If he could take someone like me and use me to help others than anything can be done.
"Those who wait patiently on the LORD shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings like eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not grow faint."
--Isaiah 40:31
