How to encompass 25 years of searching into just a few paragraphs.....well, here is the cliff notes version.
I was called to serve the Lord at a very early age, and being much too young and full of selfishness, I chose to go my own road. It was not a pleasant path or one that I would recommend for anyone, or for that matter wish on anyone. Suffice it to say there were temptations that were not resisted etc etc etc.
After many years of leading a "good enough" life, I realized that something very important was missing. Everything about my life was enviable, good job, great family, etc, but I was not whole. I knew what it was, I just did not know how to go about finding it again. Well, as always the Lord found a way.
For me it was a blizzard. I was driving back from a work meeting and got stuck. Literally, couldn't go forward, couldn't go backward, out in the middle of nowhere going to die stuck. I prayed to Father to let me see my family one more time. And when I opened my eyes, there was an 18 wheeler parked behind me on the road. I know it is hard to fully understand someone else's experience, but there had not been a vehicle on that road for hours, and I was miles from the nearest town. The truck pulled around me, and through the blizzard led me 77 miles to my exit, in my mind I said thank you, then he blinked his lights and he turned off.
For those of that don't know road etiquette, trucks flash their lights when they are behind you, not when they are in front of you. They do it to let others know that it is now safe to continue.
I got back into church the following Sunday. Since then, I have become a youth minister, and am in the process of taking my ordination exam.
I know who I am in Him and the role that He plays in my life.
There is much more to it than that, but in a nutshell, He gave me life. And I will forever sing his praise.
God Bless,
