Hi all,
I was for the longest time last year starting to lose my faith everything seemed to be going wrong i was getting depressed, losing a lot of sleep and just not having anything go right. my wife and I found out last august that my wife was pregnant with our second baby. At that time it was joyous since my wife and I was trying for another child. Then middle of September comes along and we find out its a boy which made me estactic. Later that month the doctor called us up and said they found something abnormal on the ultrasound and wanted us to come in for another one, during this ultrasound we found that our son was gong to be born with spina bifida. About a day later i get a call from cousin saying my aunt has had a major heart attack, and that she might not be able to take care of herself any more. So i called up my work and asked for a transfer down to Arizona so i can help care for her. It was granted but at a 15% pay cut.
Fast forward to December/January my wife and I go on vacation to Arizona to visit family and look for an apartment down there. We fly back to Oregon on Jan. 9th. early in the morning and at about noon my wife starts having minor contractions (at this point my wife and I are not to concerned we had these false labors with our first son) At about 4:30 my wifes contractions are down to 10 mins apart. so I call the doctor who waits an hour to call us back just to tell us to come on in to the hospital. At this time my wifes contractions are down to 5 mins apart and she is screaming her head off cause she is in a lot of pain so i pack her and my oldest son into the car and get onto the freeway, Needless to say at about 5:30 at night its jammed pack and might s well have been a parking lot. Anyhow we get about halfway to the hospital and i'm in the far right lane and my wife says her water broke, at this point i verify and was scared cause there was no way i was making it the next 12 miles to the hospital. Amazingly in my wifes distress she sees a sign stating the next exit had an hospital. so without even looking i turn my wheel and barely make it to the off ramp, (how i managed to hit no cars still amazes me) about halfway down the off ramp my wife says the baby has came out and sure enough she had the baby in the front seat of our car. At this point i drive straight through 3 stop lights without slowing down and without wrecking the car drive up to the emergency entrance and yell for help stating my wife just had a baby in my car.
About 20 nurses and security come out and help resuscitate my newborn and get him and my wife taken care of. The security guard offers to park my car for me and everything is starting to calm down a bit.
After much thought i now have no doubt there is a god and he does look over all his children and blesses them with his protection when we really need it the most. Just got to remember just cause life isn't going your way at this point in time it is going the way god has meant it for you and you just need to put your trust in the lord that he will guide you along the path that was meant for you.
God bless,
Roy and Christine Ruth
