There appears to be a problem on our server. Jeff can you check when the last AASA ban list was downloaded? I confirmed 3 hackers this week alone.....and suspected several more but was unable to to act w/o substantial proof. 3 in one week is a big number when ya consider i usually only find about 1 every 2 months that gets into our server w/o the ban list or pb catching him.....somethings up!!! Do we also stream AON or only AASA? i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn88/officeraamo/pb000964.png

The AASA MBL does not get updated on our server as frequently as it used to, due to my Internet situation -- it is a manual process for me to update it, and it's hard to upload a 2.5MB file over 26KB dial-up. I'm looking into some options for getting this updated more frequently, but it'll take some time to set up. Until then, if you find someone on our server that's already on AASA's MBL, go ahead and remove that player from the server (or better yet, have an admin do a pb_sv_ban to remove the player, if one is available).

doesn't their MBL stream automatically? I think he would have stated that if that was true ;-) On top of that, the banlist consists of the -=Of-God=- banlist aswell ;-)

thanks alot.......your post was very helpful. Now.....directed towards Jeff......if the problem is Dling the combined banlist....in the interim..... lets just stream AON or AASA or both.....because since my last post .....another one. i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn88/officeraamo/pb000293.png

There is no "streamed banlist" -- streaming is the act of securely sending your server's logs to a repository for processing by that repository's owner (in our case, AASA only). AASA does not have a "streamed banlist" where bans are automatically added to servers. AON has a facility that would do this with their banlist, but it also allows them to insert anything else that they want into your server, so we don't use it.
The banlist update has always been a manual process for us, and that's the way we like it, because it gives us the most control over what's going on in our server.

I know that I'm new around here but I would have no problems with helping with updating and maintaing the ban file on the server.

Seen allot of profanity on the server without action of course i play European hours) Glad some members did a great cleanup yesterday on House #1 ,thanks for that . And its getting summer so it will slow down (players --- read members and admin) will go on holidays --- so difficult to keep it clean . If a God tag appears they keep quit ;D

You're welcome, "NubZ" , always glad to help out on the rare occasions when I can . I'm also starting to get caught up on the log parsing/posting -- I'm ready to post up through the end of March, with April not far behind ... pretty soon it'll be all caught up, hopefully. Also, Anointed has taken over the updating of the banlist -- it will be done on a daily (or near-daily, at least) basis again, so you shouldn't be having this type of problem any more on our server.
