It would be hard to go wrong with an iPod for this kind of activity, and the Nike configuration you had a link to may provide a kind of motivation that will help you keep up your activity now that you have started. I've never been much of a runner but have started to use an elipitcal machine we have - 30 minutes a day - quite a workout and you never leave your room! ;D I use the iPod (I have a big old classic) to watch movies while I'm working out that wouldn't work well for someone that is running... You can use iTunes to rip all of the music you might have on CDs and then sync them right to the iPod. And of course you can buy individual tunes or albums directly from iTunes as well and sync them. Oh, and you can get podcasts as well... I think I have 3400 songs on mine and 110 movies. If I could only play AA on it the device would be perfect! Great invention, worth the cost. Good luck and stick with it - at 20 years old you have a lot of living to do - it would be better if you did that with your health! Hooah. Sam

I don't think an iPod would motivate me to run. If I wanted to listen to music I could just go do that in my car and get to where I need to. Also, I could just go to my computer, tv, or even use my iPod while not running. It might motivate you though. The strap thing that attaches around your bicep...I have had 3 friends that have dropped their iPod and severely scratched it with that. I recommend getting an iPod above most other MP3 players, but iTunes is a mess and really annoying. There are a few other programs besides iTunes I have seen people use to put music onto their iPod, but the names or where to get the programs I do not know. But as far as music goes, anything energetic with a nice high strong beat usually gets me up and ready to do whatever.

[glow=red,2,300]he ,I'm getting old not so old as Tested (sorry mate ).[/glow] I think the best motivation to get me running would be a large angry dog. Ipod just wouldn't cut it. Good luck with your decision there, junior.

I agree with wisdom. Itunes is really annoying. But, Ipods themselves are pretty sweet. A shuffle might be a good option for running. But, also that Nike thing seems really cool. I've never heard of it before.

Yeah, I guess the age thing got lost in translation... And that's the worst part about running, YOU HAVE TO DO IT. ;D By the way, 39 is still young - keep working! Sam

I just grabbed a few military coughrangercough running cadences when I started running 5 mi. every other day (which thanks to winter being here, and school, my running hasn't been so frequent. More like, every time I get time to do it...). It's easy to focus so much on repeating the cadences, staying on beat with the cadences and such that what felt like 15 minuets ended up being 40. However, they have an annoying tendency to get stuck in your head and take up permanent residence there....

I know a really good Christian techno artist. Andy Hunter has a couple CD's out and you might like his stuff. I haven't tried running to it but it's positive and somewhat inspiring with the sounds and lyrics.
