Bad ice storm sweeping across parts of the country right now, and I'm caught right in the middle of it! We are fine but would be nice if everyone could keep the people involved in their prayers, many are dying of hypothermia and accidents. Power has been out where I live since Tuesday, running on generator power right now (we are one of the lucky, running space heaters + computer). Have the bedroom-side of the house sealed off with a blanket in the hallway and it stays around 60-70 degrees with space heaters, other side of the house dips to around 45, LOL. But like I said we are lucky, many are not so keep them in your prayers. It has been cold (usually around 15-35 degrees) and extremely ICY, power lines are down all over from falling tree limbs.
Here are some YouTube videos to give you an idea, they weren't taken by me or in my town but it's a similar scene at my house, in fact exactly the same:

Every single branch on every single tree was completely encased in ice with huge icicles hanging off, needless to say we've lost hundreds and thousands of branches in our area (big branches at that, entire limbs falling off at a time). 2 days ago you could stand outside and hear a limb fall every 10-15 seconds. I live in an area with MANY trees so it was dangerous to be outside for a whole day or two there. It's slowed down now and is starting to melt but many are still without power or water and many tree limbs are still broken off but caught onto other branches and will probably be falling for years to come, but we're alright, we have water just not power. Like I said we're absolutely fine though, as long as we have gasoline we can last forever, but still keep the less fortunate in your prayers. It gets cold for people without secondary heat (we'd be freezing too without the generator, no gas heat or fireplace). Amazingly enough they got the phone and internet lines working again today, but power lines are in bad shape in areas across several states. On our street alone we've got maybe 3-4 breaks in the power lines, where it's just hanging on the ground. And another few spots with big tree limbs hanging on them. (the power lines broke their fall, yay!)
Most people are completely safe and will be fine through all of this, but there are a lot who won't I'm sure, I have read that at least 50 have died already. Anyways, on the bright side of all this it sure is pretty outside, and we made some miniature snowman for the mailbox and some fenceposts. ;D (got a days worth of snow after all the ice hit, but it was mostly solid ice)
From what I hear we have been declared a national emergency again, in the last year this has happened 3 times where I live, once from a super bad flood (ALMOST came in our house, but not quite, got tons of other people though and some houses were sent down river), and another from tornadoes, both last year. And now this.
Here are a couple videos from our flood last year:

And the tornado took out a ton of businesses and some homes in our small town.

Anyways, have fun out there and wish us luck, lol, and I kid you not, I think the only natural disasters available in this area that we haven't experienced in the last year are earthquakes and the super-small possibility of volcanoes!
