I'm afraid I already know the answer to this. Is there anyone else who wants to play AA in Linux? I have version 2.5 on my Linux box (as that is all the higher AA for Linux goes). AA has already stated they are not going to make AA3 for Linux. This is more of a vent then anything else and I'm just curious if there are any Linux users in the -=Of-God=- clan.

You might be able to find our veteran member Laugh-=Of-God=- playing on some of the few 2.5 servers available. He's actually a [gasp ] Mac user ;D, but they're stuck at 2.5 with the Linux folks also . I don't know if any of our other members play AA on their Linux or Mac computers.

*Raises hand* I run Linux! ;D
I don't play AA on it though. I still use XP for that. To answer your question: yes and no. It is actually quite easy to set up, run, and play AA very well in Linux via WINE [I've done it myself]. However, Punkbuster doesn't play well with WINE, so you would only be able to play on non-punkbuster servers [cheaters galore]. Although recent kernel releases have really improved, Linux unfortunately still does not have nearly the same 3D acceleration support that Windows does.
What distro do you run BTW?

I've been running for several years and have run several distros. I was introduced to Linux with RedHat. Then I ran Mandrake for a few years. The longest run was GenToo, however, after several children, I quickly learned I don't have the time to Tinker like I used too. So, about 2-3 months ago, I switched to Ubuntu... My main box is my Linux box and I do have AA 2.5 installed on there, but I like the newer maps so I mostly play on my Windows machine. I contemplated installing a VM to run AA, but I don't think highly graphical games work with most VM machines.

Yea you wont get much done with a VM. Mine only allocates 16MB of VRAM to the VM, so that's not gonna do it. lol
I run Ubuntu as well. It was the first one I tried, and having tried several others [Fedora, openSUSE, Linux Mint, Sabayon, Mandriva], I stuck with it. Not the most secure distro, but I don't need it to be. In my opinion, it's got the best chance of competing with Windows.
