Um, I am planning on doing this to all of the computers in my home with my dad sometime. Is it "safe" to do? How risky is it?

Leave the Vital things alone. The other stuff that is chaged is safe. I changed everything to Black Viper's advice except a few things (Password saves, etc.) Sean

Did it seem faster?

Yes, I got about 6 or 7MB of RAM back so it is a little bit faster. It's not huge improvement, but al my programs are loading faster and start up doesn't last as long. I'd definitely try it if you haven't. And I received no errors. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

I might be a little bit behind in the times, (no laughing) What is Black Viper, and if you found it is it a good thing? {Kerry} Black Viper is a person who figured a way to change programs functions if they were useless. These programs could be disabled and cn save you a little extra RAM, which in turn, makes your computer perform better. Viper created it long ago and as Ernie said in his first post, he found it again. It is quite useful if you want to try it. majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12Sean

Ok...I’ve done everything that he said to in his safe column up to N. I’ll do the rest tomorrow if nothing starts acting funky. Did you do anything past the safe column to revise stuff? I doubt the changes that I made will do much for me, but why not...

Another safe guard for ya'll is that you can go to your control panel>system>hardware>hardware profiles and copy your current settings down. Then make your Black Viper suggested settings and rename the currently used profile to "Viper 1", or whatever. Whenever you restart the computer it'll give ya an option for which profile you want to start with, this is time adjustable in the same box.

If you have a point created for your system to "restore back to", yes. Let's say you create a point today and your computer is messing up on you a week from today. You can go to System Restore, load that System Restore point, and it will put your computer back to where you had it the moment you created that restore point.
And I just did the Black Viper run-through of the services.msc and man, it makes a noticeable difference.

Well I did find one thing that messed up my Laptop. The Wireless Zero Configuration needs to be automatic for a wireless connection to work... other than that, pretty good thing...
