I've downloaded the 2.8.2 patch from three different sites and every time I try to install it, it freezes at the very beginning where it says "Configuring Windows Installer." Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, what did you do to correct it? Any help would be appreciated. I'm usually somewhat computer savvy and looked around www.americasarmy.com for any help, but came up with nothing.

Are you running XP or Vista? For me, it took a lot of time at the "Configuring Windows Installer" screen ... several minutes ... a lot longer than it seems like it should have. On my Vista machine, however, it took nearly twice as long as it took my XP machine to get past that screen.

I'm running XP with Norton AntiVirus. Do you think it's just taking awhile? Every time I run it, it says "Not Responding" so I just figured it froze. I'll try and let it go for a few minutes.
I've even tried to install it with NAV disabled, but it still does the same thing. I notice, though, when I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and end the AA install program, NAV pops up with a "waiting to scan 2.8.2 patch file." But, like I said, I tried to run the program with NAV disabled and it still froze.

It took a very long time on my system before it started - I mean 10s of minutes. So if you haven't waited that long perhaps it is working but you just haven't given it enough time... Sam

Yeah, vista is kinda messed up with installing files. For AA, it takes around 15-45minutes before it asks me if I want to allow it to start . Oh well.

Patience is a virtue (and an -=Of-God=- veteran member), as they say. I waited about 15 minutes, with interruptions from NAV, and it eventually worked. I played a little bit tonight, but have to go to sleep.
Thanks everyone. See ya on the battlefield.

you can turn off the permit or not of vista if you want. I probably won't do that unless I'm going to install something, then I'll turn it off temporarily, but thanks for reminding me of that. Completely forgot I could do that.
