I've been getting kicked by PB from #2 today, for a Win.DriverGamma CVAR violation (might not be exact, I don't get a lot of time to look at it). I don't know what this is or how to correct it, I played around with the gamma setting on the Settings page of AA but that didn't help anything. I don't know if it's exclusive to #2, I haven't tried joining any other servers. Also, I'm running AA 2.3 for Linux, if that makes any difference. I'm pretty sure my PB is up to date too, 'cause it said it was downloading the update the first time I joined. (Took five minutes too! lol) Help, anyone? Edit for spelling

Here's the check that you're failing (quote from our server setup file) -- And here's how you're failing it (quote from our server #2 "\system\pb\sv_viol.log" file that records all system kicks on server #2)-- The solution is simple: 1. Open AA. 2. Click on SETTINGS. 3. On the first tab, VIDEO, change the GAMMA setting from wherever it is to something else (usually around one works for most maps -- sometimes slightly higher for darker maps, depending on your video card).
You should now be able to play on that server. (Don't worry, this is not a bannable offense -- so there will be no problems for you with AASA about this.)

Oooh, wait, Linux. Hmm.
Okay, open your AA ArmyOps.ini file, and add this section above your [SDLDrv.SDLClient] section -- That should get you onto #2 until I can correct the checks.

Thanks, I changed the values; I'll let you know what happens when I try to get on later today.

K, I just tried playing on #2 and PB kicked me for the gamma violation again. Any more suggestions? BTW, this only happens on the Linux machine, not the Windows laptop. (It's really hard to play AA with a touchpad, LOL Really good for other people's fragrates though, just ask Sound! ;D)

UPDATE: I ran PBWEB from the Konsole and it said some things like "downloading X file" and "Converting Y file to Y.so" and other stuff. I tried again to play on #2 and got booted for the same reason. This is getting annoying!!1one

This is getting annoying!!1one Unkless they have released a Linux version of PBweb.exe then do not use it. It is coded to run within a WinDoze operating system not a real one like your Mandrake. UNIX/Linux understands that an exe is an executable, and expects that the user knows not to run Windows files natively on it's system. You should also be logged in as root, or SU into root on your account to run something like that. An exe like that is usually ran from the command line as well, not double clicking on it.

Yes, Evenbalance has released a Linux version of PBWeb: PBWEB.x86. I have given all users execute permissions for it too. And you have to run it from the console, it won't run from a GUI.

It's almost sounding like a rights issue, does your account have root permissions? Or can you SU into root and then run it? Linux updaters that are not complied properly are very twitchy about where they are run from, so look on thier site and make sure you have it in the right directory. You might have to CHOWN it once you get it in the right spot as well.

Yes, I can run the PBWEB program just fine, but it doesn't fix the the gamma issue I'm being kicked for. Additional info that may be useful: There are five users on the computer including root. I installed AA with my user, and I don't know if I have root privleges or not. I set the permissions to allow anyone to read, write and excute anything in the .armyops230 folder. Would it fix the problem if I reinstalled to a common directory? We are trying to have AA available to be run by all the users. Sorry if this is confusing you all, it's confusing me!

Hey, you might look into the root password. When you run updates you need that. In the terminal window you would type SU and then put in the root password. Then run the PBWEB.

OKAY, I found out that PB is having a problem with certain CVAR's for Linux users. I'm removing that check from the server #2 and server #3 setup file. (It's already not being run on #1 anyway.)

Thanks Jeff, Rusty. I'll get on tomorrow and see if it doesn't kick me anymore. I can play fine on servers that don't run that CVAR check, so I imagine that there won't be any problems. Thanks again! ;D

#2 and #3 should now be safe for you to play on (until you get shot, that is).
