Have you guys ever considered changing the background on your website? The black looks really cool at first glance I have to admit, but when I read your forums it starts hurting my eyes. The contrast between the black and the other colors is quite distinct which makes it hard to keep reading. Not that you care, but as someone who's researched human communication I know that your set up has proved to be quite a problem for most people. In fact it's one of the worst ways out there. Here's some research you might find interesting... hubel.sfasu.edu/research/AHNCUR.htmlOne suggestion that I could make if you like the black a whole lot is to merely change the color of the tables in which people do most of their reading. But it's you're website. Do what you want. I'm merely making a suggestion. You could still use black but maybe just not as much as you're currently doing. I would make it much easier to read.

Well, I have spent a considerable amount of time over the last year at this forum and I like the black background honestly. It makes the text pop out and is easier to read for me. I have never found a time where it bothered me. But thanks for the suggestion and I hope (black background aside , that you enjoy your experience here. God bless and hope to see you on our server(s) soon. Bro Jeff a.k.a. [shadow=red,left,300][glow=red,2,300] †_FC_†™[/glow][/shadow]

That was a very interesting study, to be sure ... but personally, I found it near-impossible to read the green-on-yellow text that it was all written in (even though supposedly that was the "best" that they found in their study). Perhaps it was an issue with the monitors used in the study, as I was trying to read it on an LCD monitor ... they didn't reference what kind of monitors were used in their study (unless I just missed that part because it was too hard for me to read). Changing the color scheme here would be a significant undertaking, as we have a lot of posts that rely on the black background color for masking "spoilers" or other such "hidden" information. Finding and editing all such posts would be extremely difficult and time-consuming -- and we don't have a lot of free time on our hands most of the time anyway. There are also several member-color setups that would not work on a lighter background, and there are several scripts on our website that integrate with the forum that include this color-coding as part of the scripting ... changing all of those would require even more time and effort that we don't have available. At any rate, this color scheme has worked very well for us for the last three and a half years here and at our previous forum, with no complaints until now. So, while I thank you for your input, I'm afraid we really don't have much choice in the matter, based on the above ... the color scheme will have to stay as it is.

Well, I'll admit white on black wouldn't be my first color scheme of choice, but to be honest I have found few color schemes that continued to irritate me after I had used them for a significant amount of time. When I first got on the -=Of-God=- forums, I did find the color scheme odd -- perhaps even annoying at times, but now it's just the -=Of-God=- forum. Anything else would seem strange! *shrug*
