In my operation flashpoint squad we used teamspeak2. The lobby was open to public but only registered users could access any other part. To register we needed to set up a login name and password but they were saved and we didn't have to enter them again. No suggestions but just general babbling by me on how we addressed the "members only" nature of our comms. O yeah to register you had to be given permission by a server administrator (which was me).

Vent doesn't quite work like that -- at least not the server we have. If we open the lobby to the public and password-protect everything else, then the members have to enter a password every time they change channels. We do allow access for some people who are friends of the clan -- but it must be requested through me, so that I can set up their username and password in the server control area. For you personally, PD, I wouldn't worry too much about that -- because I have a feeling that you'll be accessing our Vent through the regular member password very soon anyway.
