I listen to a variety of music. It ranges from contemporary Christian, Christian Hip-Hop(gotta love holy hip-hop ) and lately, Heavy Metal Christian.

Rock was my vote.
Classic, Alternative, New Age, Grunge; all kinds of rock and roll. I like some Christian Rock, but I strafe away from extremely vulgar and offensive rock music. I love classic rock bands like Rush, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Lynyrd Skynyrd (even though they're more Southern Rock). I'm just mostly into rock and roll. I love instrumental rock too, like Dream Theater. If the guitar and drums sound great, I'm generally interested.

Well, I couldn't just choose one style as my favorite. I like Christian Rock, but not hard rock and not rock that includes screaming and/or growling because I personally don't think it worships God. I like Classical/Classical Pop (such as Josh Groban), instrumental piano (ones written by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and lots of those classics) and Pop. I also like Contemporary Christian.

See allot of good bands in here. I also listen to metal as I said before, like S.O.A.D. or others. But listen lately to Placebo, Muse and some Lost Prophets. Hope I am going to see them live. There in Holland in Augustus and I am saving for a ticket for the festival. Listen to older rock too, Jimi Hendrix for example( Hey Joe ) or if I feel like: Eric Clapton (Layla is very cool).

People always ask me where I'm going with that gun in my hand...and the reply is simple: "Going down to shoot my lady...you know I caught her messin' around with another man." Hendrix is a great guitarist, I love his riffs. I could just listen to him play the guitar, he wouldn't even need to sing. That's why I love "Voodoo Child", because there aren't many lyrics and more guitar.

I think this thread should be moved to the hangout, as its not really about Christian Music specifically.

i love music! You really need to be careful when you're listening to secular music. What does it promote? Some bands are just "neutral" i prefer Christian bands though. We need to guard our minds and what we put in our minds...just somethin to think about.

We need to guard our minds and what we put in our minds...just somethin to think about. That shows wisdom and courage Michael. A young man, who was a very gifted guitarist, asked me once, "Can't man have God and fame and fortune too?" I responded by telling him that people have a tendency to ask questions they already know the answer to. He was looking for justification for a decision he had already made in his life. Yes, we have to be very careful what we listen to. Music is powerful. Music directs you. It can either direct you to God, to yourself or to the enemy of our soul. Bro Jeff a.k.a. I myself am a listener of many forms of music though mainly rock and metal, excluding Pop, Rap, R&B or Hip-Hop. So I can only got for "Alternative" though I do like to listen to music that gives our good messages. A good many which I love due to their positive remarks, statements and agreements that would go well with Christian belief, though I do listen to other Christian music by other family members and "Songs Of Praise" on TV Sometimes I listen to ones which are lyrically horror/fantasy themed to read and understand the meaning which I highly enjoy in learning how others might or may feel as part of learning myself about the world and Human feelings - something I believe rewards you with knowledge and perspective on how to respond after careful thinking. Anyone else agrees with me on this? Though as said, there are many who listen to these things for the vibe, or rythem and not for the lyrics. But I'm going to have a semi-lengthy report on how I view music and how they affect the people of God. I furthermore dislike the direction of the excluded genres due to what kind of messages and lyrics are being put into them now-a-days, which is pretty much demoliting and ruining morality, clear thinking, clarity and cleanliness. I feel that these are clearly pointing today's youth into wrong directions of living and conflicting with what God wanted Humanity to be: A collection of Humanity without prejudgice, without war, povety and greed or lust, etc. I do however think that some tastes do give an inside as to the influences and even troubles in its countless forms into a listener's mind, especially if it's a good band that has the ability to do so. I know people who like Country, and say that's very much simplistic personal music. I know others who listen to Rock and are all around on their views. Then there's the Metal, which I get a barrage of different views, some of which like those new-bands which don't rightly hold much messages other than their own hatred of 'the world'/'life' - which to me is a dire attitude and provides the wrong message on things, and then I can get those which like music with bounch and energy which makes them happy, and finally those which listen to Metal and Classical for the lyrics containing very real messages and even personal feelings that the music produces. Here are my list of current bands I have in my album collection, though I do try to get some good 'uns, but money as we know does limit things, though a couple bands some may dislike. However, feel free to have a search about here on my webspace: blackroseim.spaces.live.com/music/ . Most of the music there I listen for many subjects, others for influence in my stories I write. And others for other issues, etc. I do generally worry sometimes about what the music genres and industries are doing, similar to the Gaming industries but that's another matter. I think however, that this may just deserve another Threat for a real good debate on the matter by everyone for what they think. I would definietly like to see that, as it is also a matter of how it influences the generations to come and those that are growing, which is always a issue with society, politics and religion, and I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks. Now that my mad discussion to this post is over, I'll be curious to see any replies. But God Bless and have a good morning, day, evening, night, and see you in-game or around the forum.
