Two seperate topics, but no reason to waste thread space.
First music.
My father, before he died, had a lady he spent the last 10 years of his life with and she claimed a few things that were so absurd as to be laughable. Most of them I've managed to figure out where they came from, but this one I'm at a loss.
"Any music that has any kind of percussion instruments in it was commissioned by Satan" or at least that's as close to her statement as I can come. Guess I should ask does anyone believe that. She said it's in the good book, but I'm at a loss as to where it might be. Which of course leads me to conclude she was full of something funny smelling.
Wait, wait that's not all. Second question regarding music is this. I like hard, fast music such as Demon Hunter. Now I can read and listen to the lyrics and realize the message they are conveying but I don't see a lot of outright mentions of God and Christ. Is that a concern? The fact that they allude to Christian things, but don't often come right out and say them?
And now poems.
Anyone write their own poems or music. Not remakes of other peoples work but solely your own?

1. Read Psalm 150 -- last I checked, the tambourine ("timbrel" in the KJV) and cymbals are percussion instruments (and were at the time of David as well), yet we are COMMANDED to praise the Lord with them. 'Nuff said! 2. There are a lot of "Christian" bands out there that have signed contracts with their record labels that forbid them from mentioning God, Jesus, salvation, etc., in an explicit manner. They generally water down their message by using a lot of pronouns ("He", "Him", "His", etc.), without ever providing the antecedent to those pronouns ("God", "Jesus", "God's", etc.), which is of course a violation of proper English grammar in addition to being confusing as to what the singer wants to convey. While they may "reach" a broader audience with their music in this way (read: "the record label makes more money this way" ), I can't help shuddering for them when I think of Christ's warning in Matthew 10:32-33 -- "Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven." I'm not saying that they're not "Christian" -- I'm just saying what Jesus said about the matter ... again, 'nuff said ... He's the authority on the matter, not me. 3. Yes, I'm a songwriter; I write both lyrics and music, primarily in a lighter CCM style (think early SCC, around his 3rd & 4th albums -- that's the stylistic neighborhood where I normally hang out ). And Princess is too kind ... I don't really think I'm all what she said, but at least she likes to hear me, so that's good enough for me. (I'm still working, when I can, on getting my Yamaha keyboard to interface properly with my computer's sound card. Once I can get that figured out, then maybe I'll lay down a couple of tracks for you all to hear. )

(I'm still working, when I can, on getting my Yamaha keyboard to interface properly with my computer's sound card. Once I can get that figured out, then maybe I'll lay down a couple of tracks for you all to hear. ) CJ has been doing excellent work with the studio software on his PC. So maybe between the two of you, you can come up with a way to get both your voice and Yamaha to interface with your sound card. And hey, if we can't hear you live, maybe we can at least hear you recorded. Here's another suggestion, if you have an amplifier for the Yamaha, Mic it and run that through your PC. Waiting anxiously for the first Corey James/Jeff Spiller collaboration! Bro Jeff a.k.a. [shadow=red,left,300][glow=red,2,300] †_FC_†™[/glow][/shadow]

No, I don't have an amp for it, and the headphones output is too weak to be picked up through the SB microphone input.

I am genuinely anxious to see you and Corey James collaborating on some music projects. I may be wrong, but I feel it's gonna happen! God bless you both. Bro Jeff a.k.a.
