You ever feel like you are untouchable like nothing will happen to you? Like some day you are gonna be a seventy year old person happily retired and enjoying life? I guess the longer you live you see more things and realize how fragile life is.
I never really had anyone too close to me die. My great grandmother died but she lived hours away and I was young when it happened. When someone your age dies you get the feeling like "wow that could be me." Im 19 and I have only known one person my age that died. It was kind of a wake up call today. Like God saying "Hey guess what you arent invincible. People your age can die too."
I was working on my truck with my dad and his friend. My engine went out about a month ago and Ive been driving a spare truck. We were trying to get the transmission unbolted from the engine so we could pull the engine out and put another one in. A couple of the bolts are on the bottom where you cant reach through from the top. We had rolled the truck a bit a few times in order to line up the hoist to hook the engine up and lift it out. My dad opened the truck and put the brakes on. The truck was right on the edge of this little hill thing in our yard. Its only about a four inch drop.
I miss driving my truck and being able to shift so I like playing with the gears. I went to get the wrenches out of the truck and decided for some reason to put it in reverse from neutral. I put the correct socket on and went under the left side and took the bolt loose on that side. The right side of the truck was sitting a bit lowwer than the left and it was a tight fit to get under. I started to put the wrench on the bolt when the truck started to roll down the hill a bit. I was lying on my back with my head facing the front of the truck. Before I knew what was happening my head was pinned to the ground by the frame rail. The truck had only moved a bit. The engine was mostly taken apart but the cylinders still had enough resistance to stop the truck.
My dad and his friend pushed the truck back and bit and I got out. I dont think they even realize what happened cause all they could see was my chest sticking out and the truck wasnt sitting on my chest so it looked like I had room. There were so many things that could have gone bad. If I had been under farther my ribs would have been crushed. If the truck didnt stop when it did my head would have been crushed. If we had already unbolted the transmission the truck would not have stopped. If I hadnt put the truck in gear for some reason I would be dead or in the hospital right now.
My neck hurts from being twisted at a ninety degree angle but thats about it. Its weird to think wow I could have been dead right now. No more chances to do anything else on earth. I came so close but God spared me. He watched over me and its like He said "I can take you out of this world when I want but now is not the time. I am keeping you safe and watching over you." I just wanted to publicly thank God for watching over me today and teaching me a lesson that I wont hopefully forget any time soon.
