Basically, it's a customizable internet radio. You give it an artist or song and it creates a playlist based on attributes of that song or artist. Try it, they have a large collection.

CAUTION: They do not play censored versions of songs. If you create a station from a metal/rock band (Petra, P.O.D., and Thrice are mine) you will get songs that have profanity or "explicit" content in them. You can delete those songs from your station however! Just use the "Thumbs Down" button to ban that song from your station (and to not play songs that sound like them as often). Also, two thumbs down on the same artist on the same station will ban that artist from that station.

Update: There is an option to disallow explicit content. I don't know if this has always been available and I only just became aware of it, or if it's a new feature they added recently.

Anyway, to disallow explicit content on all of your stations, click Account, then Edit Your Account. At the bottom is an option to enable/disable explicit content.
