Princess & I just got home from a comedy concert in Elmira, NY tonight featuring Leland Klassen, "The Big Hands Guy" -- and all I can say (between the chuckles and guffaws that still rock me as I think back over the last four hours) to those reading this is that if he's ever playing within 200 miles of your location, it'll be more than worth the trip for you to go see him and hear his message!!
I was extremely impressed by his ability to work up some new stuff on the spot in many spontaneous bits with the crowd, such the unfortunate sounding of the "bedtime alarm" that went off on Princess' cell phone (which we use as a reminder to tell Peaceling#1 that it's time to stop reading and go to bed) -- that was beautiful!
He also did a hilarious routine regarding the Canadian military (sorry, Face -- but brother Leland is from Saskatchewan and lives in Vancouver now, so apparently he's allowed to poke fun at them, or something like that ). His routine reminded me of our resident Skowsa's comments when Pringles joined us two weeks ago -- Stripes posted something to the effect that we now have more Canadians in the -=Of-God=- Clan than they have in the Canadian armed forces ! I mentioned that to Leland when I was talking to him afterward (I met him through ShoutLife.com a few months ago), and he thought it was pretty funny too!
Here's a snapshot that Princess got of Leland and I with the camera on my cell phone (the phone that wasn't sounding an alarm during the concert ):
All in all, we had an awesome time ... I honestly can't remember the last time I ever (if I ever did before) packed that much laughing into a contiguous two-hour stretch -- and the clear presentation of the Gospel at the end was a beautiful bonus . If you ever get a chance to go see him "live", do it! At the very least, visit his ShoutLife profile, where he has several video clips of some of his material ... either way, you owe it to yourself to have a good laugh!
