Well, I was snooping around the AAOT forum the other day and I saw some guys mention using anti-aliasing to make the game look smoother. (no jagged edges etc.) To be honest I've never REALLY been satisfied with that in AA, so I've been looking into it. You may have noticed that unlike other games (that I've seen are Halo2 for Vista, and the Crysis Demo) America's Army doesn't have a option in the settings menu for anti-aliasing. (as far as I know, please enlighten me if so hehe) So, I opened up my drivers program for my video card (I have a radeon ATI card, so I use the catalyst control center) and I was looking at the "anti-aliasing" section. First, I allowed the CCC to force the anti-aliasing by unclicking the "use application settings" box OFF. Also, while I had placed the "level" up to 8X, I hadn't noticed the filter type, which can boost the sampling from 8X, all the way up to 24X. I booted up AA, and the difference is rather amazing. I'll post SS's soon (like today I think...), but while before I had some rather noticeable jagged edges and angles, these were mostly gone. My soldier's character had an amazing difference, with little to no edges whatsoever. So, if you have a decent driver program (CCC, or Nvidia's, don't know the name), and you have a good computer, check this out. Notice i mentioned good computer... hehe. My fps dropped from around 50-60 down to around 20 on Border. Putting Anti-Aliasing on max takes the energy out of your PC, haha, but tweak it and experiment for your best balance of quality/appearance. -Strat

Just one caveat -- enabling anti-aliasing on your video card for AA has often been associated with one's inability to capture in-game screenshots or to have PBSS's captured by a server (the infamous "black PBSS" is sometimes caused by this). So if you do enable anti-aliasing, be sure to test both your ability to take screenshots and your ability have PBSS's taken of you, just to avoid any future unpleasantness with servers intolerant of black PBSS's (or with me when you can't produce a screenshot to document your kicks ).

Comparison of anti-aliasing vs. none Without: With: Without: With: I saved these images with 100% "fidelity" (I guess could be a good word... lol), so thats how the SS was (minus the cropping). The difference should be clear. EDIT: and thanks Jeff for the tip. I've also heard of having that problem with specifically with nvidia cards, though I don't know the specifics.
