Hey all - I just wanted to let you know that I'm prepping my system and updating AA to play again. I haven't actually played in quite some time, and wanna start again so I'm doing complete system maintenance. (And boy does Windows need it ) I'm updating my graphics drivers, AV scanning, Spyware scanning, defragging etc, right now - so I should be on within the next couple a days. Hope to see you in-game! xD Your faithful student, Learner-=Of-God=-

Ok, I think I updated AA, but when I tried to play there was only a small handful of servers. (Maybe 15 or 20 with all filters off) and I couldn't find our MOUT server. Am I doing something wrong?

Not sure, but you might want to double-check exactly what version you are now at. I know there were several patches and patches to patches. The last I heard, the correct version is 2.8.4.0. So... might want to double-check that first.

Yep, that's most likely the issue ... you're probably still on either 2.8.3 or 2.8.3.1 -- upgrade to 2.8.4.0 and you'll find our servers (#1 on McKenna, #2 on ES2Border ).

Hmm, well the in-game client says client version 2.8.3 but the Deploy Client says I'm at version 2.8.4.0 Do I need to download the core file? which is 1.5gb.
Deploy client isn't doing any auto updates - it already finished updating to 2.84 I thought, but maybe it messed up or something.
Also, since I'm on Vista, I set all the executable files in the Deploy Client, and the America's Army folders to Run as Administrator.
Also, I remember the Deploy Client downloading a 354MB (don't know exactly but it was pretty close to that I think) patch - which is the same size as the manual patch download of 2.8.3 to 2.8.4

Ok, so I manually downloaded the patch and it gives me errors. I'll try unintalling and manually reinstalling AA and the patch. EDIT - Ok I looked at my files and realized that I'd tried to patch the 2.8.3.0 AA with the 2.8.3.1 to 2.8.3.4 patch. Now I'm reinstalling AA and will then manually install the 2.8.3 to 2.8.3.1 patch. I wonder why Deploy Client didn't do it properly? Because that's the same error I had before. Did the Deploy Client come out with/after 2.8.3.1? Because that may be why it didn't patch properly. Oh and btw, I actually got this month's hour of playing already. xD On the wrong version of AA hehe.

Finally! I got it - but I still don't see server 2. And btw, its not on interdiction anymore is it? x( That's where I go when I get bored of losing.

Um, no, it's on ES2Border (as someone ... me, perhaps? ... said above ) -- that's another great co-op map (and my current favorite ;D). The IP for #2 is the same as #1, except the last digit is 3 (75.126.154.153) instead of 0.

Ah ok thanks Jeff. I don't think my PC will be able to handle ES2 tho.

ES2Border isn't not that bad, actually ... I only get about 8-10 FPS on most of that map, yet I currently have a 21.7 FR there (and climbing -- check out some of recent session FR's there -- and no, I haven't joined the cheating scumbags, even in the session that I went 107-1 ;D [actually, that session and the next were all one session -- I was on continuously for 232-11, but Tracker went down in between them ]) .

Haha nice - I managed to play a couple rounds with someone and I discovered its my new fave map. xD (At least for single-player) And I think I actually have a 1.00+ K/D.. o.O hehe - even though thats not saying much... I think I get 15 fps on that map? Maybe? Time for me to get a job... Only problem with that map is, you don't get your honor unless at least one other person is there..

... Only problem with that map is, you don't get your honor unless at least one other person is there.. That's actually one of the three things that I like most about the co-op maps -- you only need two people there for the experience points to count and for Tracker to pick up your stats, rather than the four people that you need to have present on the "regular" multiplayer maps . (And the other person doesn't even really have to play, just to be there ... if no one's around, I sometimes use my laptop computer to enter the server on an alternate account, then use my desktop computer to play on my main account -- just gotta move the alternate guy a bit from time to time, to keep him from getting kicked for inactivity -- or sometimes I'll let Peaceling#2 run around on the alternate while I'm playing ;D.) Not that anyone asked , but the other two things that lead me to prefer the co-op maps are: 1) you never have to wonder whether the OpFor is cheating (because you know that the AI bots always cheat ); and 2) it encourages cooperation between all human players present rather than pitting them against each other (thus helping to keep my hyper-competitive nature from getting the better of me ).

Haha - I love that map. Too bad my comp can only handle it at around 10-15 fps. x( I think its time for me to get a new job and work towards a new PC. Also, when their are other people and you die early on by a mistake, you have to wait a loonnnggg time before you can start again. Guess that makes me more cautious from here on out.

True ... but even when you're dead, you keep scoring experience points (lots of 'em! ) when your living teammates report ES2 objects, trigger objective points, or complete objectives -- so it's still worth it, even then .

I'm holding steady around 20-25fps on ES2 Border. Unfortunately, I get very frustrated with the way the AI will dodge bullets impeccably by turning around and running perpendicular to my line of sight the moment I fire. I'd like to see a guy dodge a Mk.252 5.56 round from my SPR in real life Otherwise it's a great map and I enjoy the atmosphere and setup.

I agree and ES2 has been my favorite map as well. Although, I think if Redemption or Sledgehammer were Honor maps, it might be one of them. Even though they are not honor maps, I may try to start a local server just to get more time on them. I only wish I had a second Windows machine right now so that my wife and I could play simultaneously. Maybe they will bring back Linux support with AA3 and the problem will be solved (my main machine is Linux).
