Miles

Too many miles . . . but praise the Lord they are behind me. I watched the sun rise on the Parlerosa this morning. It's a simple thing of which I cannot put a price. The sun's rays stretched its fingers across the earth. I watched as I nursed my first cup of morning coffee. The steaming vapors from my cup danced a ballet in the warmth of the light. What a state of peace I find myself. What a day to be alive.
I reflect on the last few days which were measured in miles on the road. I left Sunday afternoon to attend a supervisor's meeting the following Monday with the company I work for in Houston, TX. Then found myself scrambling for my life on Monday in the downtown Houston traffic at 5 PM. I arrived home late Monday evening only to rise and head to New Orleans the very next morning as Miss Brenda's younger sister was rushed from ICU in Alexandria, LA to New Orleans for a new type of heart surgery that was only being done in two hospitals in the United States, one of which was Ochsner's in New Orleans, LA. We went and prayed for my SIL. Praise the Lord, she was released from the hospital the next morning with no need for the surgery. God is good all the time.
Sitting here on the Parlerosa, after the dust has settled on all the anxious moments of the past few days, I am reminded of the miles. Trials and tribulations are as the miles in our journey. Some miles have a steeper climb than others. Some have more pot holes while others have more curves that you can't see around. Some have wide shoulders while others have none with no room for error. The more times I stop the more miles still lay ahead of me. It's only when I keep going that each mile falls behind me and the farther I go the farther they are left behind me. And when I hit that steep climb up the mountain road with constant curves and no shoulders with seemingly endless pot holes in the dark of night in a blinding rain I see it . . . my headlights illuminate the words of the road sign, "Keep Going, This Too Shall Pass. ~ God"
Well my cup is empty . . . coffee cup that it is. My spiritual cup is running over. This looks like it's going to be a two cup morning since I'm not through enjoying the morning yet. So as I make my way to the coffee pot I will leave you with this - "Keep going, this too shall pass."
