2.8.2

Just an FYI -- our servers will be running AA 2.8.2 following tonight's edition of TNBS. So be sure to be on Vent for TNBS at 9PM Eastern, and then join us in playing AA 2.8.2 -- we'll probably fire up #1 with the new "Rummage" map for us all to check out -- it looks very interesting indeed. If you don't have the 2.8.2 patch yet, get it here now ... it'll take a while to download and install, since it's 890MB (yeah, just the "patch", right ).

If you've been playing on our servers, then you should already be at 2.8.1, so the 2.8.2 patch should be no problem. For someone who has just installed 2.8.0, they would need to patch to 2.8.1 and then patch again to 2.8.2.

Ok, my bro downloaded it for me last night and now i have to install it. On XP no prob, on Vista....its a HUGE deal. Vista takes a very long time to open up large exe files. My dad's computer was running dual xp and vista and I tried using an exe file on both of them. Almost instant on xp, 15-45minutes to open on vista. So, hopefully I'll get this patch worked out. What exactly does it change? Just the look and adds to new maps? Sounds cool though.

though this isn't the best thread for this, i think its a good one. Can anyone see if the crouchswap/jumpswap is gone? There's a whole thread about it on AAOT, but I don't have time to test it now. I think if it is gone, it will save us a lot of grief in the future.

I guess the update overwrites your old user.ini files so your customized keybinds are gone. If this is true, is there any way to get back your old user.ini?

there's no way to get it back that I know of. I always make a copy of mine before I update, but.... to late to do that now.

You know, I thought about that just as I clicked on the file to load the patch... But unfortunately all I did was think about it, didn't actually do anything! Oh well, live and learn (and learn and learn)...

Are there some MOUT servers that run 2.8.2 ? I DL'd the patch but don't want to use it if most servers aren't updated yet.
Hooah! Does anyone know if the BHHS glitch was fixed in this new version ?

Our servers are on 2.8.2 -- that's the important thing . #1 will probably return to MOUT soon ... just checking out the new map (Rummage) for a while. In other news, it looks like the easy ways to do the quick-swap are indeed gone ... tried to reproduce it in testing in #1, kept getting error messages in the console -- !I guess this should shut up all the naysayers who kept saying that quick-swapping wasn't a glitch . However, there are rumors that there is still another way to do the quick-swap, so stay on your toes and watch for it. Thanks! And I haven't been able to test for the land/shoot glitch yet. BTW, those who have been around a while know my fondness for [Dev]Pye quotes -- he's such a laugh riot! Here's a real beauty from the AAOTracker forum this morning, in a topic called "AA 2.8.2 S***s": my sides hurt

I saw a few hints at that on the AAOT forums here and there... But... at least the quantity of players who do it will be cut WAY down.

I saw a few hints at that on the AAOT forums here and there... But... at least the quantity of players who do it will be cut WAY down. What I'm glad about is that it's harder to perform this glitch and thus people who still use it after this update are most likely using this glitch intentionally. Newer players who don't have a clue about the quick swap have less chance using it unintentionally. Less warnings and less miscommunication on our servers Dancer aprroves 2.8.2 ;D
