Hey all, this is Learner (Patrick) checking in. I just wanted to let you know that my family has moved to another house in the same neighborhood but sadly the public free wifi doesn't reach us. We will get on and play when we get a new connection (hopefully very soon) but right now we don't have any way to connect except at school. I will ask my dad (doesn't live with us but takes care of computer-related things for us ) if we can get high speed internet but its kinda expensive. Just letting everyone know.

Ouch ... bummer. I know that dial-up is no way to go, at least for playing AA ... but if you can at least get that, you can get on the forum and stay connected that way. I'm on USNetizen.net ... $6.95 a month gets you 15 hours a day online ... and they have most US area codes at least somewhat covered ... if your phone plan has unlimited regional calling, you should be able to connect wherever you are without additional phone charges.

Thanks Jeff. I emailed by dad about getting Usnetizen at least temporarily-sounds like a decent deal. However, I hope I can eventually get High-Speed . That high-speed dialup sounds pretty cool though. Have you tried the Megaboost system? Do you know anyone who has Vista that has gotten it to work?

I did get the Megaboost option, yes ... but I'm rather disappointed with it ... might just be because I'm in far too rural an area ... they say I should be getting throughput of 110K, but I'm only getting 25K or so ... so I'll probably drop that for next month, and see if it makes any noticeable difference.
They just noted that they're confirmed to work with Vista now ... not sure about the Megaboost, though ... as I said, it doesn't seem to help for me at all, on either my XP or Vista systems ... so I don't know. I haven't had any problems with the connection itself though, on either system.

Good news!! I will be getting high-speed internet within 2 weeks. Cya in game soon! Also, when we used to have dialup I could get speeds of 49k without any speed up system from the company. I tweaked my XP settings with TCPoptimizer which really speeds up your internet settings. (No installation needed, just click TurboSpeed and restart your computer-not recommended for use with Vista-Vista does a good enough job already).
