OK, official word is out on the americasarmy.com home page. go check it out! EDIT: If your download seems to not be progressing at all, this might be the reason: MajorWinters said the following at this thread: forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?p=2726413#2726413So basically... all the 9million ;D AA users tried to download the game at the same time, and crashed the download provider. ghehehe EDIT #2: If you don't want to use the Deploy Client this time, AAOT has the patch available on their downloads section, under "patches". aaotracker.com/downloaddb.php?cat=5

What did I do wrong?

I think that because of some controversy regarding them hosting the actual .exe file, and thus taking attention away from the Deploy Client, the guys at Pragmatic forced em to take it down. As far as I know, the only way to get the file now is through the deploy client.
EDIT: For those of you who were able to download the patch from AAOT before it was taken down, there will be a slight problem in your registry that will affect your ability to use the Pragmatic Deploy Client. While you may have updated AA, the DC will see the game as "2.8.4" instead of "2.8.4.0". This will make it tell you "you have not updated to the latest version, would you like to update etc."
Here is the fix from [GA]Homey from the AAOT website:
To clarify, Windows Vista users already have the "regedit.exe" application on their system. To open it, just type "regedit.exe" into the search bar and it will pop up. Then open it, and go to the directory above "heky_local_machine\software\army etc... In there you will find a file called "version". Right click on it, and press "modify". In the window that pops up there is a "2.8.4" make it "2.8.4.0" and you're done.

Here's how it works Armyboy. #1. You download the America's Army Deploy Client. aaotracker.com/downloaddb.php?file=149#2. Install the Deploy Client, this file will be about 10mb only. It is NOT a patch. #3. Once you boot up the Deploy Client, it will attempt to connect to the AA network. #4. If you successfully connect, it will prompt you to update 2.8.3.1 with 2.8.4.0. If you desire to do so at that time, click the appropriate button. It should do the rest... if you have any questions, just ask.

from what i understand, the patch is only available through the deploy client. and i think they changed something so that the patch previously available through AA tracker isnt the same as the patch through deploy client. the AA tracker patch was 2.8.4, but the deploy client is 2.8.4.0. thus the deploy client wont let me launch the game until i download their version, which doesnt completely download for me for some reason. gets to 99% and stops.

I had the same thing hillbilly... you just have to wait. It kindof "kicks out and in" at the end of all the downloads. You can try pausing/starting it, and then it might kick in faster. You just have to wait for it.

Thanks strategy. I can't wait to try out Mout Coop. I don't think there is a MOUT coop. There is an ES2 border coop and there is ES2 training for MOUT - which by the way is not obvious how to take that training. Go to the special training - where you learned to shoot the CROWS - and there is now an ES2 training block when you expand. Takes 10000 points which took me four tries... I just wish they weren't so happy when they say "you are a NO GO" Sam

hi, i am about to download the 2.8.4 patch, but i want to know if i can still play on 2.8.3.1 servers. thanks! No, you will not be able to do so. Once you are on a certain game version (2.8.0, 2.8.3, 2.8.4, etc) you can only play on servers set up with that specific game version. 2.8.3.1 can not play on a 2.8.4.0 server, and vice versa. However, there are already around 400 servers on 2.8.4.0 already, so you should have no problems as far as server selection.

do you have to get the 2.8.4.0 patch through the deploy client? i don't have dsl and it could take a long time, but it might be quicker to do it outside the deploy client.

idk... like, say 10 minutes or so? It's what worked for me... I really don't know a true solution. Striker: yes, you should be able to get the patch through the Deploy Client. If you have 2.8.3.1 installed it should prompt you on startup for the patch. EDIT: also, striker, on your sig, you need to put [img} tags around it. EG: blahblahblah[/img} (but use brackets everywhere, not "}")
