you might still be able to find the patch somewhere outside of the client, but i highly doubt it and wouldnt recommend it. The client is definitely your best bet. Edit: hmmm ok now the download restarted totally. i already updated to 2.8.4 through AA tracker when it was up, and it works fine, so i guess the Client 2.8.4.0 is just the same file renamed. i just wont use the Client to launch the game

So I just went to where the patch was exported to - it says in the window - and executed the patch from there directly. Just in case this has happened to anyone else. Oh, and I've played the ES2 Border map and there are a lot of Opfors there and they all hate you... Sam Sam

Here's how it works Armyboy. #1. You download the America's Army Deploy Client. aaotracker.com/downloaddb.php?file=149#2. Install the Deploy Client, this file will be about 10mb only. It is NOT a patch. #3. Once you boot up the Deploy Client, it will attempt to connect to the AA network. #4. If you successfully connect, it will prompt you to update 2.8.3.1 with 2.8.4.0. If you desire to do so at that time, click the appropriate button. It should do the rest... if you have any questions, just ask. Thx i downlaoded the client now but it wont bring up the connection to the patch what do i need to do?

the previous version before 2.8.4 is 2.8.3.1, so you might have to download that version instead of 2.8.3.

You can download the full version (2.8.4.0) from the Deploy Center.

why are they updating since they are so close to releasing AA3(says AAO tracker)? shouldn't they save this es2 stuff for AA3? not complaining about the new patch, far from it.

i think it was more about releasing the download client more than the new version. AA 3 will be distributed through the client i think.

There is now the option to download the full version/patch without the deploy client. americasarmy.com/intel/article.php?t=285360However, may I add that it would be very good if you give the Deploy Client a chance. In the future it will be essential to your AA experience, and it will likely be a central(if not obligatory) part of the AA3.0 package. Fortunately they released it now to iron out all the problems, as there have been many. In the future, I'm sure it will be a VERY valuable accessory to downloading addons, patches, accessories, etc.

are we going to swap the server to 2.4.0 or leave it on 2.3.8.1 for a while still?

are we going to swap the server to 2.4.0 or leave it on 2.3.8.1 for a while still? I am no authority on the server, but I would guess that it has not been moved because Jeff has not had the opportunity to do that yet. He's the one who has to make the call, and since he's otherwise occupied at the moment, it hasn't happened yet. Our clan has never "stayed in the past" as far as I'm aware, and there would be no reason to do that now.

thanks strategy! i went to that link you sent ftp.free.fr/mirrors/AmericasArmy/Windows_v2.8.4/ and downloaded the patch. it was much quicker than the deploy client, but i still downloaded the deploy client because as you said, future patches will probably come through it.

Well...I must say not impressed.....I know the admins are trying to get things updated but as most players I am on the latest version. I know the admins are doing there best with what access they've been given...however....We have ran into these types of problems before with the server. If we are having that kind of difficulty simply login at the server provider and create a support ticket and ask the server to be switched over to the latest version. Unfortunately Jeff probably is the only one that has the Login and PW. I know I'm sounding harsh and I apologize but we seem to walk on glass when these issues arise and they keep coming up. We need a couple of our admins to have full access to the server and its control panel. I know I could uninstall and go back to old version but that would seem pretty counter productive to have to download the patch again when the server is switched. I guess my point is this patch wasn't a surprise.....one of the admins should have been given access or instruction on how to switch it over.......sigh......rant concluded.
